Beauty Packaging Announces Board of Advisors

As we head for big changes and what promises to be an economically challenging 2009, both suppliers and brands in the beauty packaging industry are likely to be put to the test. This situation makes it more vital than ever to stay informed regarding the latest trends, materials and regulations. To this end, Beauty Packaging proudly announces its formation of a Board of Advisors—industry leaders who will help ensure that our 10,000+ readers are kept up-to-date on relevant issues.

Please join our publisher, Jay Gorga, and me in welcoming the following seven beauty industry executives to Beauty Packaging’s Board of Advisors: John A. Delfausse, vice president global package development and chief environmental officer, Estée Lauder Corporate Packaging; Nica Lewis, head consultant Mintel Beauty Innovation; Scott Widro, vice president of manufacturing and materials management, Chanel; Maureen Kelly creator and CEO, Tarte Cosmetics; David Prague, VP packaging, corporate operations NA, consumer products division, L’Oréal USA; Barbara B. Poder-Stiso, senior director package development, Del Labs/Coty, Inc; and Karen Grant, vice president and global beauty industry expert for The NPD Group.

Jay and I look forward to your comments and suggestions for the magazine in 2009. With our Board now in place, we hold a valuable bank of resources to enhance our content and lend insider insight to key topics.

Already in this month’s feature story on innovative packaging (p. 11), we hear from two of our Board members: David Prague and Nica Lewis. Prague provides insight on what went into the packaging for L’Oréal’s highly successful Skin Genesis, which won an HBA IPDA this year. Lewis offers her take on many of the trends emerging in the global marketplace—most notably, the environmental concern. “Packaging,” says Lewis, “will become vital in regard to sustainability.”

Sustainability was also a key issue at Luxe Pack Monaco, where a full day was devoted to topics on packaging and the environment. You can read about the show on p. 32.

Other stories this month include Glass Decorative Techniques, Dispensing Options and the rise of the Eastern European Cosmetics Market.

It’s an issue that’s chock-full of information—and a year ahead that holds much promise, as challenging as it may be at times.

Wishing you all the best for the holidays,

Jamie Matusow
